How is The Sober Shift different than other Quit Lit?
There are no sensational rock bottom stories.
No movie-making, earth-shattering alcohol related stories.
No DUIs.
No brown paper bags.
But…
That’s exactly why I needed to write it.
This book is what’s been missing in the Quit Lit space.
I needed to share my stories, and many other women’s stories, that illustrate the small, almost imperceptible, ways alcohol steals and takes from us.
Because while tiny at first, the loss is significant.
And over time, it adds up into something that feels monumental.
I didn’t lose everything to alcohol.
I wasn’t forced into sobriety.
From the outside, everything looked fine.
Inside, though…
Inside was different.
On January 19, 2020, I finally allowed myself to tell the truth: Alcohol had caused me to doubt myself and not to trust myself, no matter the situation.
And that.
That was enough.
