Every Saturday morning, I wake up before the rest of the house for my 7:15am Shred415 class. Every Saturday morning, when my alarm goes off at 6:03am (It’s a thing; I blame my OCD. All my alarm/microwave times have to end in 3 or be a double number, like 6:44) it takes everything in me not to call it off and fall back into a sweet slumber.

7 times out of 10, I make it happen. I roll out of bed, put on my workout clothes before I have a chance to change my mind and stumble toward my coffee. If my math is correct, I’m looking at a 70% completion rate for my early Saturday morning workouts. Is that good? I guess it depends. If this were high school, I would be almost failing. But in real life, it feels like a pretty damn good score.

When I cancel class at the last minute, I’m charged a $15 cancellation fee. Please don’t think I don’t ask myself every single Saturday morning: “Would I pay $15 not to have to get up to workout right now?” (The answer is almost always yes, even when I don’t l…
