Hello from a family staycation in the city! We’re celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary at that place it all happened - The Ritz in Chicago.
Every year, my husband and I load the family, Georgia included, in the car and drive the 15 miles to the city. We revisit the ballroom with the giant chandelier. We watch the kids splash in the pool. We remember the night 13 years ago when we chose each other and tell each other we would make the same choice in every lifetime, again and again.
I’m working on a post about the night before our wedding and what I would do differently. More on that soon, but for now…Sunday Things. 💛
READING: I’m still on my Sally Hepworth kick (Mad Mabel and The Good Sister are must-reads) and just started The Younger Wife (included with Kindle Unlimited). Too early to tell, but my hopes are high. It you love twists and turns and characters you wish actually existed, you’ll love Hepworth’s books.
LISTENING: Almost done listening to Half His Age by Jenette MCurdy. I loved her first book, I’m Glad My Mom Died, and was excited to learn about her fiction debut when my bestie, Katy (and librarian extraordinaire!) mentioned it to me last weekend. It’s a twist on the classic teacher/student romance, written and read in the same frenetic, hurried way McCurdy is known for. In this case, the student is the aggressor.
WATCHING: “Love Island” is back and I’m in. I know, I know. I’ve always assumed it’s just mindless TV, which it is. But it’s also a case study of relationships and Gen Z dynamics and paranoia and jealousy. The best part? While the producers are definitely in on the joke, the contestants most certainly are not. It’s ridiculous and extremely entertaining.
Too hot for sweatpants? Then it’s the perfect time for my favorite sweatshorts. I ordered them in two more colors because that’s just the kind of girl I am.
Handbags are my love language, and I’ve been wanting to try Vivrelle for awhile now. It’s a members-only club where you can borrow designer bags, jewelry, watches from top brands.
I borrowed this Prada crossbody for our staycation in Chicago this weekend. I’ve loved it and I can’t wait to borrow another bag next week.

“I've been sober for four months and I genuinely don't know what to do with myself at night anymore. My whole wind-down routine was wine. Now I feel like I don’t know what the hell to do. Help!” —L
